Islington’s Spanish Civil War heroes
A gripping new exhibition tells the story of Islington’s courageous men and women who made the harrowing journey to civil war-torn Spain between 1936 and 1939 to fight the fascists.
The exhibition showcases tales of local heroes such as Islington East MP, Leah Manning who in 1937 was instrumental with the evacuation and settlement of 4,000 refugee children in Britain, from the Basque region in Spain.
The walk will last approximately an hour and a half and promises to be an incredible event explaining much about Islington Borough as well as the Spanish Civil War.
