Hispanic Events in June and July

featured Hispanic London

Hola chicos,

Despite not having the best June weather, I believe this blog will cheer you up! The time of the year where lots of Latin events take place in London is about to start, so you will have the opportunity to either enjoy a dance, food, or drinks… while you practice your Spanish!

Here are some of the great Hispanic culture events that are happening over the next few weeks:

Spanish Portobello Festival (Sunday 23rd June):

Probably one of the biggest Spanish festivals in London, this year the Spanish Portobello Festival will take place on Sunday 23rd June. The festival will bring a taste of Spanish culture and vibrancy to the streets of the famous Portobello neighbourhood.

An authentic and vibrant Spanish feria atmosphere will be created with Flamenco dancing, Spanish music, performances and lots of stands with traditional food, drinks, as well as arts and crafts workshops.

Spanish cuisine classics like paella, croquetas, jamón Ibérico, tortillas, pimientos de Padrón will be on offer along with regional wines, beer and cocktails. And don’t forget, DESSERT! Like churros, perfect to share with the whole family and friends!

Gran asado argentino (Sunday 30th June):

Argentinian food is probably one of the best foods in South America, especially if you are a “meat lover”. And this year the Anglo-Argentine Society are organising a big event to promote their great “asado”.

“Asado” is a social event consisting of having a barbecue that usually includes beef, pork, chicken, chorizo, and morcilla which are cooked on a grill, called a parrilla, or an open fire.

Generally the meats are accompanied by red wine and salads. Do not worry if you are vegetarian because there will be lots of vegetarian options. Not only will you enjoy food but also there will be entertainment, traditional music and of course some tango.

Salsa in Scoop (Sunday 7th July):

Do you dance salsa? Do you just enjoy dancing but you never had a chance to take any lessons? If both answers are YES, this event is for you

Havana Londres always organises some events in London to get people familiar with all Latin dances, from son, bachata, merengue, salsa, rumba… but this time it will be outdoors next to the town hall to enjoy the weather.

They already celebrated one event last week and it was a great success, you can see it in the video:

If you are a really big salsa fan, this Saturday 22nd June one of the most famous salsa bands is playing in Electric Brixton, Havana de Primera.

¡Pasadlo genial!
